Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2026
These terms govern your use of Succession Marketplace. The short version: we run a venue where anonymous sellers and serious buyers can find each other. We are not your broker, lawyer, accountant or escrow agent — and the deal you make is yours.
1. A venue, not a broker
Succession Marketplace is a listing platform only. We provide the venue — anonymous listings, an automated valuation tool, NDA gating, offer threads and a deal milestone tracker. We are not a business broker, securities broker-dealer, law firm, accounting firm, escrow agent or investment adviser, and we do not represent either party in any transaction. We never hold funds and we take no commission on a sale.
2. No professional advice
Nothing on this site is legal, tax, accounting or investment advice. The independent valuations shown on listings are automated estimates produced from seller-provided figures and industry data — they are not appraisals, fairness opinions or a recommendation of what a business is worth to you. Before you sign anything or wire anything, do your own due diligence and review the deal with your own attorney and accountant.
3. Transactions happen between the parties
Offers, counter-offers and messages exchanged here are negotiations between the buyer and the seller. We are not a party to any agreement you reach, and we do not guarantee that any buyer, seller or business is as described, that any offer will be honored, or that any deal will close. Deals close between the parties, typically with their own counsel and (often) an escrow provider of their choosing.
4. Your account and listings
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials confidential.
- Sellers must not include the company name or other identifying details in public listing fields (headline, description). Anonymity is the product — listings that break it may be rejected or removed.
- Listing information and uploaded documents must be truthful and yours to share. Misrepresentation is grounds for removal.
- New listings go through a review queue before they are published. We may approve, reject or withdraw any listing at our discretion.
5. Confidentiality
Buyers unlock full financials and documents by accepting the confidentiality terms, which form a direct agreement between the buyer and the seller of that listing. Each acceptance is recorded with the terms version and timestamp. The platform provides the mechanism but is not a party to that agreement.
6. Acceptable use
Don't scrape the site, probe or bypass the NDA gate, upload malicious files, misrepresent your identity or finances, harass other users, or use the platform for anything unlawful. Rate limits and abuse controls are in place; repeated abuse leads to suspension.
7. Disclaimers and liability
The platform is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Succession Marketplace is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages — including lost profits, failed transactions or reliance on listing information or valuation estimates — arising from your use of the platform.
8. Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the product evolves; the date above shows the latest revision, and continued use after an update means you accept it. Questions: hello@successionmarketplace.com.
